AI training for staff in NZ

Your team using AI on real work within three weeks, with clear rules for client data.

This is AI training for staff at owner-run NZ firms with under 20 staff: professional services first, trades welcome too. After it, your people draft emails and letters, summarise documents and prepare for meetings on your own email and files, and they know what never goes into a public AI tool. The next step is a free 30-minute call, where the work is scoped and priced.

Scoped and priced on the free call, as a fixed price agreed before I start.

Based in Christchurch. Remote across New Zealand. Fixed price, you own everything.

What your staff can do afterwards

Most owners do not want a course. They want the team to get through the day faster without anyone pasting a client file into the wrong place. These are the jobs staff are doing by the end.

Draft emails and letters

A reply to a client or a letter to a supplier gets a first draft in seconds. The person checks it, changes it and sends it. Nothing sends on its own: the AI drafts, you approve.

Summarise documents

A long report, a contract or an email thread becomes a short summary with the points that need a decision, so the reading is done before the meeting.

Prepare for meetings

Staff pull together what was said last time, what is outstanding and what to ask, from the email and files they already have.

Know the rules

Everyone knows what can be pasted into an AI tool and what cannot, because the rules are written for your firm, not borrowed from a generic guide.

How the training runs

It is hands-on, on your own email and documents, not slides. Your staff work on real jobs from their own inbox and files while I am on the call, so what they learn is the thing they will do on Monday.

The training is one part of getting AI set up safely: the right tool and licence, clear rules for client data, a one-page staff AI policy, the hands-on training, then your first three use cases built and handed over. It runs two to three weeks and everything is done remotely over video.

The one-page staff AI policy and client-data rules

Staff will use AI whether or not you have rules. The policy is one page, in plain words, covering what never goes into a public AI tool, what can go into the licensed one, and who checks the output before it reaches a client.

Before I write it I check which plan keeps your data out of model training and what the tool can see in your files. If you use Microsoft 365, read what Copilot can see in your files first.

Why not just a generic online AI course?

A generic AI course teaches the tool in general. It is not about your files, your tools or your client-data rules, so your staff finish it knowing how prompts work and still not knowing what they are allowed to paste in on Tuesday.

If your team only wants a general introduction, a course may be all you need, and I will say so on the free call. If you want them working on your own jobs under your own rules, that is what this is.

Which tool do you train us on?

ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini, whichever suits your firm. I pick per firm and say why, and the training is on that one tool, not a tour of all three. The two guides to read first are ChatGPT Plus, Team or Enterprise in NZ and whether Copilot is worth it for a small NZ firm.

How it works and what it costs

  1. Free 30-minute call. You tell me who needs to use AI and what you are worried about.
  2. Scope. I write down what I will do, what it costs and how long it takes, before you commit.
  3. Set up and train. Tool, licence and staff policy first, then hands-on sessions on your own email and documents.
  4. Hand over. Your first three use cases are built and handed over. You own everything.

It is scoped and priced on the free call, as a fixed price agreed before I start. There is no hourly billing and no open-ended retainer. The full list of what I offer is on the services page, the wider picture is on the AI consultant page, and accounting practices have their own version.

Questions

Asked before the first call.

How long does AI training for staff take?

The whole AI set-up, which includes the training, is a two to three week engagement. The hands-on sessions sit inside that, and your team is using AI on real work within two to three weeks. The timeline is scoped on the free call, so you know it before you commit.

Do staff need to be technical?

No. If your people can write an email and open a document, they can do this. The training uses your own email and documents, so nobody learns a new system first. I teach the habit of checking what the AI drafts before it goes anywhere.

Which AI tool will you train us on?

ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini, whichever suits your firm. A firm that lives in Microsoft 365 often suits Copilot. A firm that mostly works outside Microsoft may suit ChatGPT or Gemini better. I pick the right one for your firm and say why, then train your staff on that one.

What about client confidentiality?

It is the first thing I cover. I set the right licence, check what each tool can see in your files, and write a one-page staff AI policy that spells out what never goes into a public AI tool. Nothing sends or books on its own: the AI drafts, you approve.

Is the training in person or online?

Online. I work remotely over video from Christchurch with firms across New Zealand, using your own email and documents on screen. The training is hands-on, not a slide deck.

What happens after the training?

Your first three use cases are built and handed over, so the team has real jobs running, not just a session they half remember. You own everything, and I stay reachable after it ships.
