AI for accountants in NZ

Less admin for your practice, with clear rules for client data.

Missing client records chased without you. Engagement letters and client emails drafted for you to check. Document and bank-statement summaries ready before the meeting. Fewer hours lost in EOFY crunch. I set that up for NZ accounting practices with under 20 staff, on the Xero or MYOB you already use.

Scoped and priced on the free call, fixed before I start.

Client records chased without you

The reminder emails, the second nudge and the list of who is still missing a bank statement are drafted and tracked for you. You read them, approve them, and the chasing stops landing on your desk. This pairs with the build in stop chasing client documents.

Letters and client emails drafted for you to check

Engagement letters, routine replies and the "here is what I need from you" email start as a good draft in your own tone. You edit and send. Nothing goes out on its own.

Summaries ready before the meeting

A client's documents and bank statements read and summarised before you sit down, so the meeting starts at the questions rather than the sorting. Typing invoice details by hand is its own job, covered in stop retyping invoices into Xero.

Fewer hours lost in EOFY crunch

The same admin, taken off the busiest weeks of your year. Chasing, drafting and summarising happen in the background, and you spend the time on the work only you can sign off.

How client data is handled

Client files hold personal information, and the Privacy Act 2020 still applies to anything typed into an AI tool. The risk is a well-meaning staff member pasting a whole client file into a free public tool.

That is what I set up as part of the work: a clear rule your staff can follow, with no certification promised. For the detail on what Microsoft's tool can see, read what Microsoft 365 Copilot can see in your files.

Works alongside the software you keep

Xero or MYOB stays your system of record. The AI work sits next to it: email, documents and drafting. Which AI tool does the drafting is my call, made for your practice, and I explain it in plain terms. For the wider Power Platform picture for a practice, see Power Platform for a small NZ accounting practice. For the general version of this work, see AI consultant in NZ.

How it works

  1. A free 30-minute call. You tell me which admin your practice does by hand today.
  2. I scope it and give you a fixed price, agreed before I start.
  3. I set it up, and train you and your staff on your own email and documents. A two to three week engagement.
  4. I hand it over, with the rules and the policy written down. It drafts, you approve.

Everything runs remotely over video call, across New Zealand. The full list of what I do is on the services page.

What it costs

AI set up safely is scoped and priced on the free call. The price is fixed and agreed before I start. If a cheap subscription is all your practice needs, I will say so on the call.

Questions

Asked before the first call.

Can AI see my clients' data?

Only what you give it. Client files hold personal information, and the Privacy Act 2020 still applies to anything typed into an AI tool. I set up a written rule for what may go in and what never does, on a licence that suits client work.

Which tool should my practice use?

I pick the right one for your practice. It might be ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini, depending on what you already pay for and what the work needs. You do not need to compare them yourself, and Xero or MYOB stays exactly as it is.

Will it send anything to a client on its own?

No. It drafts, you approve. Nothing sends or books on its own.

Do we need an AI policy for staff?

Yes, once staff use AI tools with client information. I write a short one-page staff AI policy and train the team on it as part of the work.

We are a small practice. Is it worth it?

Often, if the same admin lands on you every week. On the free call I will say which result is worth doing first, and if a cheap subscription is enough, that is what you will hear.

How much does it cost?

It is scoped and priced on the free 30-minute call, as a fixed price agreed before I start.
