Core's $299 is a starting price: Katana bills extra for sales order volume and additional inventory locations beyond the one included, so the actual monthly cost scales with order volume rather than being a flat platform fee. Where the tier boundary actually bites
Free is a genuinely usable manufacturing tool up to 30 SKUs, not a crippled trial; the wall is the SKU count itself, and once a catalogue exceeds 30 products the 15-day grace period ends and Core becomes mandatory. From Core, the second wall is add-ons: manufacturing routings and insights, batch traceability, and warehouse-grade bin management are all separate monthly charges rather than being included at any fixed price point.
Who this suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a small manufacturer with a lean product catalogue who can live within 30 SKUs on the Free plan indefinitely, or one who has already outgrown that and needs unlimited SKUs on Core. It doesn't suit a firm that wants inventory, traceability and warehouse management bundled at one predictable monthly price, since Katana prices those as separate add-ons, or one that wants its manufacturing platform priced in New Zealand dollars. For a firm already on Microsoft 365, a stock and jobs register can be built directly on the licence already paid for: on Dataverse at NZ$32.40 a user a month, with Power BI Pro at NZ$22.60 for the two or three people who need the report. A build like that runs $8,000 to $18,000, priced in New Zealand dollars from the start. It does not replace Xero or MYOB, the accounting ledger stays exactly where it is, and it does not attempt landed-cost or multi-currency stock valuation. What it covers is stock on hand, jobs, bills of materials for simple assemblies, and reporting, without Katana's growing stack of per-module add-ons. How much does Katana Cloud Inventory cost in New Zealand?
Katana has no New Zealand price. As at the 22 September 2026 check of its own pricing page: the Free plan costs $0 for up to 30 SKUs, Core starts at $299 USD a month, and Advantage is custom, quote-only. The page's own schema markup states the currency as USD; this post has not converted it to NZD.
What happens to Katana's Free plan once you pass 30 SKUs?
There's a 15-day grace period where the SKU count is unlimited. Once that period ends, the account is capped at 30 SKUs unless it upgrades to Core, which removes the SKU limit entirely.
Are Katana's manufacturing add-ons included in the Core plan price?
No. Manufacturing Management, Traceability and Warehouse Management are separate charges on top of Core, $199, $249 and $149 a month respectively as at the 22 September 2026 check, not bundled into the $299 starting price.
