All four carry a promotional rate for the first three months before reverting to the price shown here: Ignite from $7, Grow from $16.60, Comprehensive from $22, Ultimate from $25. Projects has moved around Xero's plan structure before; as at this check it sits only inside Ultimate, so getting it means moving the company's whole ledger, payroll and forecasting up to the top tier, not paying a small module fee. Why this matters for a small firm
Unlike a per-user tool, this is per-company plan pricing: you pay for the whole subscription's tier, and the first 10 project users ride along once you're on Ultimate. For a firm of five or six people this can look cheap per head, since $125 covers the entire subscription, payroll for 10 and 10 project seats. For a firm that's happy on a lower tier for its actual accounting needs, adding Projects means dragging the whole company up a tier for payroll and forecasting capacity it doesn't use.
Who this suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a firm already sized for Ultimate anyway, wanting payroll for 10, 180-day forecasting and multi-currency, that also gets lightweight job costing riding along close to free. It doesn't suit a firm happy on Ignite or Grow for its accounting that only wants job costing added; Xero Projects drags the whole subscription up a tier, and a dedicated job-costing tool or a Power Platform build can come out cheaper for that narrower need. For a firm that doesn't want to move its whole Xero subscription up a tier just to get job tracking, the same project list, time entry and margin view can sit on Dataverse instead, NZ$32.40 a user a month, joined back to whatever Xero plan the accounts team already runs.
